Our members breed Shih Tzu to better the breed and to produce their next generation of show
dogs. We will, however, on occasion have puppies for sale. These puppies are typically champion
sired on either one or both sides and will be very good examples of the Shih Tzu breed. All our
members sell pets on a spay/neuter contract and only after the puppy is fully weaned and is of a
suitable age to leave the breeder.
As well as puppies, due to the nature of showing and breeding dogs, there may be at times a rare
opportunity to offer a home to older dogs. These are typically AKC Champion Shih Tzu dogs and
bitches that have passed breeding age, (5-6 years), and would benefit from a quieter lifestyle than
that of a show kennel. They are ideal suited for homes with older, or no, children looking for a pet
that is already house trained and does not require, or seek, the constant attention that a puppy
craves for.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Shih Tzu club has a single contact point for all breeder referrals. Please be
patience when contacting the breeder referral member as they could very likely be away at a show,
but they will endeavour to contact you as soon as possible with a list of members that have puppies.
NOTE - If you are lucky enough to get a puppy or dog from one of our members it will most probably have numerous
champions in it's pedigree and a family history of showing in AKC sanctioned events. It will come from a Show home and will
only be allowed to leave once it is old enough and it's health is ensured. All the puppies will be fully socialised, friendly, playful
and alert. W e recommend that you look at both the AKC and American Shih Tzu Club websites to find out about breeder ethics
and what you should look, and what questions you should ask, before buying a puppy from any source.
Although we do not comment on so called "puppy mills" we do feel that the support and advice you will receive from our
members will far surpass that which you will receive from a multiply bred kennel with little or no "Show" interest. Our members
do not advertise their puppies in print and rely on word of mouth or breeder referrals to find suitable homes.
